The Square Corner Challenge
A monthly contest for builders and DIYers. Show us a project you laid out square — a deck, slab, shed, patio, tile floor or garden bed — and tell us how you did it.
How to enter
- Build something that needed a square corner.
- Take a photo or short video, ideally showing your layout (strings, tape on the diagonal, the finished corner).
- Share it publicly (Instagram, YouTube, Google Drive or Dropbox link) and submit the link with the form.
- Tell us in a few sentences how you squared it.

Prize values are announced at the start of each round and are funded by sponsors and supporters. Help fund the prize pool or sponsor a month.
Judging
Entries are scored out of 100: accuracy and craftsmanship (40), how clearly the layout method is explained (30), creativity and difficulty (20) and presentation (10). Community choice is decided by public vote on our social channels.
Official rules (summary)
- No purchase or payment is necessary to enter or win. A purchase does not improve the chance of winning.
- Open to individuals who are of the age of majority where they live. Void where prohibited. Residents of jurisdictions that require registration or bonding for contests may be excluded.
- One entry per person per round. Entries must be your own original work and must not infringe anyone's rights.
- Each round opens on the 1st of the month and closes at 11:59 p.m. Eastern on the last day of the month. Winners are announced within 15 days and contacted by email.
- Where required by law (for example in Canada), prize winners must correctly answer a time-limited skill-testing question.
- By entering, you allow 000345 to show your entry, first name and city on this site and its social channels, with credit.
- Prizes are non-transferable and may be substituted with a prize of equal or greater value. Winners are responsible for any taxes.
- The sponsor of each round is named on this page when the round opens. Full rules are available on request.
